Shravana mela
Shravana mela is held every year during the Shravan month of the Hindu calendar, in the month of July- August. Pilgrims visit Sultangunj where Ganges flows. This mela is also known as Kanwar yatra as the pilgrims collect the holy Ganges water in pitchers. These pitchers are carried on their shoulders with a small bamboo pole known as Kanwar. Carrying the Kanwar, the devotees walk barefoot to cover a distance of 108 km from Sultangunj to Vaidyanath.
